Introduced commercially in 1995, by Qualcomm, CDMA quickly became one of the world?s fastest-growing wireless technologies. 3G CDMA networks provide more capacity for voice traffic with data capabilities with high speed, therefore, many mobile operators are now building or upgrading to it.

CDMA is both the 2G and 3G wireless applications. Indian mobile operator Reliance India as Mobile, Tata Indicom, BSNL and MTNL Garuda all use CDMA2000 technology and CDMA1X variant.

Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)
GSM has become the standard technology in the world for mobile communications. It is based on TDMA protocol developed in Europe. GSM provides a high level of safety standards internationally recognized technology and superior sound quality.

To work for all GSM phone, it needs a SIM (Subscriber Identity), a card that contains your telephone account information. Thus, an Indian GSM phone can be used in any part of the world.

Wireless technology platforms

1) GPRS
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is an evolution of GSM technology that integrates GSM and IP. GPRS offers Internet access at high speed. You can check your e-mail and surf the web traveling at high speed. Currently BPL Mobile and Hutch (Orange in Mumbai) offer GPRS services in India.

2) WAP

Buy Real Estate With No Money Down | Chan Wittaya

Anyone can buy real estate with no money down. All you have to do is offer a high enough price and make sure the seller gets some cash at closing (but not yours). Do that and someone will say yes to your offer. The problem, of course, is that just getting real estate without spending your own cash isn?t all you want. You also want a deal that makes sense.

This tends to be glossed over by many who promote zero-down ways to buy real estate. If you are buying a home for yourself, so what if you get in with nothing down. You also want to be sure that it makes more sense than the alternatives (renting, waiting, lease-option, etc.). If you are investing in real estate, you want a property that will have cash flow or can be sold for a profit. With those criteria in mind, here are a few ways to do it without your own money.

No Money Down ? Starting With Land

One of the easiest types of real estate to buy with nothing down is land or small lots. In many areas of the country it is common for sellers to sell these properties with a small down payment or none at all. Of course, one of the reasons they do this is because it is an easy way to get more for the land. I once bought a piece of land for cash and resold it in weeks for 30% more, because a lot of buyers could afford my terms: $250 down and $100 per month. So be sure that you are not paying too much.

?Too much? doesn?t necessarily mean paying a lot over ?market value? however. It is determined by what you will do with the property. For example, if you have no other way to buy a small lot, and as a result of the easy terms offered by the seller you pay $12,000 for a lot worth just $9,000, is that too much? Not if you will later put a modular on it and make a $21,000 profit selling the package.

Now you might notice that many of the lots and parcels of land for sale are not offered with no down payment. Most sellers will at least want something at closing, even if it is only $1,000 down on an $8,000 lot. So how do these become ?nothing down? deals? By borrowing for the down payment. In the above example, where you eventually make $21,000, what if you borrowed the down payment on a credit card at 18% interest, and it took a year to do the deal? Then you would make $210 less ($30 cash advance fee and $180 interest), or just $20,790 profit.

Land is also a way to get into a home with no money down. When you buy real estate this way, you can pay for the lot over a few years, and then use it as the equity necessary to get a home loan. many banks will loan you the money for a modular or stick-built home if you already own the land free and clear.

100% Financing

If you have a good credit score, you might still be able to get a 100% mortgage loan. They are getting less common now (late 2007), but I still see an occasional advertisement for them. Alternately, you might find a lender who will loan 90% and still let the seller finance the other 10% on a second mortgage, meaning none of your cash is necessary.

If you are investing in real estate, you might get 100% financing from a ?hard money? lender. These lenders charge high fees and high interest, but the idea is that you use them for high -profit deals that make it worth it. Other investors may put up the money for the down payment and repair costs on a fixer upper project, if you find the right deals. This can be at a high interest rate, or for a share of the profits.

Buy Real Estate From Motivated Sellers

If you stick to properties that have highly motivated sellers, there is usually a way to buy with no money down. For example, a seller might sell his $90,000 house to you with only $3,000 down if you offer him $95,000 and a good interest rate. You can borrow the $3,000 of course (or even a little more to cover closing costs, if you want nothing at all into the deal).

Sellers have been known to take cars or other pieces of property as a down payment. They may let you buy with two mortgage notes, one for 20% and the other for 80%, one of which they?ll immediately sell to get the cash they want. To buy real estate with no money down, just look for a way to get the seller (and the lender, if necessary) what he needs ? without using your cash.

Canadian Supreme Court Rules Against Exemption in Religious ...

The Supreme Court of Canada ruled on Feb. 17 that Quebec?s controversial Ethics and Religious Culture (ERC) program does not violate the religious freedom of Catholic parents who sought to exempt their children.

The decision drew disappointment from the Catholic Civil Rights League, the Christian Legal Fellowship (CLF), and Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) in what the League is calling a denial of parental rights.

Taking a more cautious approach, the Canadian Conference for Catholic Bishops (CCCB) said in a released statement that it will carefully study the decision.

?If?the Bishops decide?the ruling may raise questions that extend beyond provincial responsibilities, they will?discuss any such concerns?at their regional?episcopal assemblies and possibly also?at the meetings of their national assembly.?

While the Court found that the ?Drummondville parents,? known as L and J, did not adequately prove harm to their children, it left open the door for future challenges showing additional evidence of infringement on religious freedom.

The ERC program was implemented in Quebec in 2008 for elementary and secondary students and is viewed as a compromise between the traditional confessional approach to religious education and a secular values curriculum. While Catholicism and Protestantism are highlighted due to their culturally important role in Quebec?s religious heritage, Judaism, Native spirituality, and other religions are also studied.

According to the ERC?s website, it seeks to promote dialog and ?is intended to help students develop a spirit of openness and?discernment with regard to the phenomenon of religion and to enable students to acquire the ability to act and to evolve intelligently and with maturity in a society that reflects a diversity of beliefs.?

At least 2,000 parents have asked to have their children exempted.

MUSCATINE, IOWA? A young, blue-eyed Sarah Lande never thought the polite young man from China, Xi Jinping, sitting at her dining room table in 1985 would go on to become the next president of China. She simply thought of him as a gentle soul with genuine interest in her family?s Iowa roots, sharing a home-cooked meal of pork, beef and locally grown corn.

Wednesday afternoon -- 27 years later -- he returned to the same three-story home on Muscatine?s 2nd Street and walked through the same door, but this time as China?s next president.

?Coming here is really like coming back to home,? Xi told a packed living room of familiar faces he met on his 1985 visit. ?You can?t even imagine what a deep impression I had from my visit 27 years ago ? because you were the first group of Americans that I came into contact with.?

?Everything was very new and fresh,? he added.

Xi?s visit is a rare glimpse at an ascending leader in China?s typically opaque and rigid Communist Party. No high-ranking official has had such direct and personal ties to the United States.

'Old friends'
Xi first visited Muscatine as a provincial official from Iowa?s sister state of Hebei almost three decades ago. Leading a delegation of four other local officials on an educational trip primarily focused on agriculture, Xi and his colleagues toured local farms and businesses as part of an exchange that began with Iowans going to Hebei in 1984. He met then- and current Iowa governor Terry Branstad and more than a dozen other Iowans in Muscatine he now calls his ?old friends.?

Lande, who was one of the organizers of his trip, was constrained by a limited budget so she resorted to old-fashioned hospitality of home-stays and meals at home. Xi spent two nights with the Dvorchaks a few blocks away from the Landes. There, Xi slept in their son?s bedroom, decorated with Star Trek figurines and wall paper.

?I wish I had updated the room,? Eleanor Dvorchak, 72, recalled. ?But he was so congenial, anything would have been fine.?

One thing was for certain, no one ever expected the quiet Xi to become China?s next leader.

?Sometimes we are just in awe, that he is going to be the next leader,? Lande told NBC News in an interview ahead of the reunion.

?Nobody knew,? Dvorchak added afterward. ?At the time, I was impressed what a hard worker he was.?

Clearly, Muscatine also left an indelible impression on Xi. Upon invitation back to Iowa by Governor Branstad, he requested to reunite with each person he met in Muscatine.

Small-town charm
Muscatine is the perfect, if coincidental, background to counterbalance Xi?s highly-scripted meetings in Washington. Aesthetically frozen in the 1950s, the town oozes both old-fashioned small-town charm and the harsh reality of post-industrial American economy. Many storefronts and warehouses stand empty in a place that once called itself the "pearl button capital of the world." Meanwhile, China has opened and expanded exponentially since 1985, into a roaring economy.

But it was friendship, not jobs, that was the complete focus of today?s reunion. Fond memories about American movies and a tour of the Mississippi river took up most of the conversation.

When Lande recalled Xi seeing puppies play in a Muscatine backyard in 1985, Xi replied, ?We love puppies. We have two puppies as pets now.?

However, Xi has not always been entirely friendly to foreigners. According to a diplomatic cable leaked by Wikileaks last year, the soon-to-be-president lashed out against countries who have criticized China's human rights and trade record.

"There are some well-fed foreigners who have nothing better to do than point fingers at our affairs," Xi said at a lunch meeting in Mexico in February of 2009.

Ultimately, Muscatine citizens and leaders alike had high hopes of leaving another positive memory with Xi that would, yet again, last far beyond his time in Iowa.

?I hope we can really express the warmth and you know we?re proud of him and we look forward to really enhanced relations between China and America,? Lande told NBC News. ?Let it start in the heartland.?

?So many Iowans are pleased that a man we befriended those many years ago, has risen to such a position of prominence and respect in the great nation of China,? Gov.? Branstad said in a toast to Xi tonight at an official dinner in Des Moines.

Others hope Vice President Xi?s two visits here will help push US-China relations in a more positive direction, as diplomatic tensions have escalated over trade and currency valuation.

Hope for improved relations
During the tea at her home, Lande told Xi that she hopes the US and China will ?have a surge in the amount of visas that they issue, so we can have more international exchange and more trade, as we?re having here between Iowa and China.?

Others in Muscatine are hoping to contribute to leaving a warmer legacy between the two countries.

?If you meet people and treat them the way you would want them to treat you, then good things can come from that,? said Steinbach of the Muscatine Journal.

?I hope that's the case for Muscatine and that Mr. Xi would take that back to China with him and remember that in any dealings he has in the years to come with the United States,? Steinbach added. ?There are people here who are honest and hardworking that you'd I'm sure find in parts in China and anywhere else.?

Xi?s stop through the Midwest also put Muscatine on the map like never before. The anticipation of Xi?s visit took the town by storm. The local paper welcomed Xi on its front page and reproduced the articles and photos that appeared in a 1985 edition, hailing his visit as a young official.

At the local high school, a classroom of students dutifully practiced their "ni hao?s? and "xiexie's" ahead of Xi?s arrival.

Jenny Juehring has been learning Mandarin for three years and today was selected to stand on the front porch of Lande?s to greet Xi and show off her language skills.

?I think he's very cool, that'd he come back here, to a place that's so small and pretty insignificant, for such a small town,? Juehring told NBC News.

Ho Xuefeng, a waiter at a Thai restaurant downtown, took the day off of work to watch Xi?s motorcade whiz by.

?I?m originally from Shenyang,? Ho told NBC News. ?To see someone like him come to this little town is rare.?

The town?s McDonald?s posted a message on their marquee for their Chinese visitor: ?Welcome back, Vice President Xi Jinping,? perhaps lending a new local meaning to ?billions and billions served.?

Inside, line cooks and high school-aged cashiers peered out the drive-through windows hoping to catch a glimpse of Xi?s motorcade whizzing by.

Some protests
But the trip wasn?t without minor hiccups. Free Tibet supporters lined the block leading to the home where Xi was hosted for tea and waved Tibetan flags, often chanting opposite equally animated college students from mainland China responding with ?We love China!? across the street.

Just minutes before Xi?s arrival at the Lande home, security officials rerouted the vice president?s motorcade to arrive on the other side of the house, where the Tibetan flags were far from sight.

Agile protestors questioning the Chinese government?s human rights record slipped past police barricades, waving signs that read ?Stop Prosecuting the Falun Gong? in English and Mandarin. They were quickly ushered away by Iowa State Troopers and a Chinese government representative.

But overall, the visit was exactly how many in Muscatine hoped it would be: friendly, smooth and memorable.

As Xi departed the Lande home in the evening rain, he peered through the window of his bullet-proof limousine, waving and waving to his ?old friends? until his motorcade turned the corner.

Clad in a red silk jacket emblazoned with Chinese characters, Lande waved after the polite young man who came over for that pork and corn dinner 27 years ago.

?Wow, I just can?t believe it!? she said.

Prostate Cancer Treatment Options Go Head-to-Head | oncologist

NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ ??A new look at the three most highly regarded prostate cancer treatment options is the first of its kind to consider long-term cost and quality of life post-treatment. Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic found prostatectomy surgery and brachytherapy to be less expensive and less toxic than external beam radiation or radiotherapy for the treatment of prostate cancer.

The close to 250,000 U.S. men diagnosed with prostate cancer each year face the difficult challenge of selecting the right course of treatment and best specialist for a disease that may or may not turn aggressive. For men who choose to face diagnosis head-on, three primary treatment options are most recommended for low- to moderate-risk prostate cancer. Radiation targeting the cancerous tissue of the prostate is available through external beam or internal seed implantation. The third choice, prostatectomy surgery, is used to remove the cancerous prostate entirely, through traditional, laparoscopic, or less-invasive robotic surgery.

In this study all three modalities were evaluated using Medicare data for close to 140,000 prostate cancer patients over age 65. The long-term data indicated more favorable results with prostatectomy surgery and brachytherapy. Dr. David Samadi, Vice Chairman, Department of Urology, and Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, believes the significant benefits of robotic prostatectomy outweigh both forms of radiation ? both internal and external.

Having performed over 3,800 successful robotic prostatectomy procedures, he prefers robotic surgery as a first-line approach to prostate cancer for several reasons. ?First,? he explains, ?robotic prostatectomy is the only procedure that completely removes the cancerous prostate. Second, the minimally invasive procedure allows for excellent visibility. Very little blood clouds the surgical field and I introduce CO2 gas to create room in the abdomen for the robotic tools to expertly access the prostate and carefully maneuver around the delicate surrounding tissue and nerve bundles.?

The side effects of external beam radiation contributed to its less favorable outcome in this study. Dr. Samadi discussed the additional benefits of robotic prostatectomy surgery by adding, ?Prostate cancer patients treated with my SMART surgery technique (Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique) have a 97% cancer cure rate. SMART surgery is a highly accurate procedure with limited side effects. Ninety-six percent of my patients regain urinary control and 85 percent regain sexual function within a short time after surgery. Surgical precision enables such positive outcomes.??

Among patients in the study, external beam radiation, the most costly of the choices, resulted in the highest rates of urinary bleeding, scarring, and gastrointestinal issues. According to the findings, prostatectomy surgery and brachytherapy make better sense for both the patient and the U.S. healthcare system.?

Most of Dr. Samadi's patients achieve a zero PSA level by six weeks post- surgery. However, in patients where trace amounts of cancer are still detected, radiation is a strong secondary treatment option. ?Radiation certainly has its role in the fight against prostate cancer. I believe that removing the cancerous prostate is the best first course of action, but should microscopic elements of prostate cancer remain, low-dose radiation is highly effective.?

If patients choose radiation as their first course of prostate cancer treatment, follow-up procedures are limited. Should the prostate cancer return or remain following radiation, for example, prostatectomy surgery becomes more complicated and riskier. Reserving radiation as a secondary, Plan B strategy improves prostate cancer treatment outcomes and reduces the dose of radiation needed, thereby reducing undesirable side effects.

Battered corners and silky linings tell tales of the suitcase?s travelled past, and you can instantly imagine the trips taken and memories made by previous owners.

It?s just as easy to imagine taking one of those suitcases on a new trip, albeit one which tranforms it as creative storage, a cozy bed for Fifi, or a modern tech-savvy charging station.
