Most Overexposed Celebrities List

Forbes has released what they are calling a list of the most overexposed celebrities. It is quite a list with a few of my favorite celebrities on it. After conducting a survey in conjunction with E-Poll Research, the infamous Forbes magazine has come up with the most overexposed celebrities list. Now I am pretty sure as soon as you heard those words a good two or three people immediately popped into your head, well here is the Top Ten List of people. 1. Kim Kardashian 2. Lindsay Lohan 3. Nicole ?Snooki? Polizzi 4. Nadya ?Octomom? Suleman 5. Paris Hilton 6. Kate Gosselin 7. Mike. ?The Situation? Sorrentino 8. Kourtney Kardashian 9. Levi Johnston 10. Khloe Kardashian Along with the E-Poll Research that was conducted by Forbes also took into account 50 other factors that included things like awareness, personality traits and of course liability. In all honesty I don?t entirely understand how the magazine came up with this list of names but I will say this I am surprised by some of them. Notey, A Super Simple Way To Share Sensitive Notes

Go here and use the password "techcrunch". Notey is that simple. Just put your super secret message in the text input box, create a password, then share the URL and password. Done. Adam Sewell of MyGeek Computer Services created the little app to more easily share sensitive data. With Notey, users can more easily share text documents, which are secured by symmetric key encryption. Sites like PasteBin could benefit from the simple interface and sharing method used by Notey.

Astronomers put forward new theory on size of black holes

Astronomers have put forward a new theory about why black holes become so hugely massive ? claiming some of them have no 'table manners', and tip their 'food' directly into their mouths, eating more than one course simultaneously.

Researchers from the UK and Australia investigated how some black holes grow so fast that they are billions of times heavier than the sun.

The team from the University of Leicester (UK) and Monash University in Australia sought to establish how black holes got so big so fast. Their research is due to published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

The research was funded by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council.

Professor Andrew King from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Leicester, said: "Almost every galaxy has an enormously massive black hole in its centre. Our own galaxy, the Milky Way, has one about four million times heavier than the sun. But some galaxies have black holes a thousand times heavier still. We know they grew very quickly after the Big Bang.''

"These hugely massive black holes were already full--grown when the universe was very young, less than a tenth of its present age."

Black holes grow by sucking in gas. This forms a disc around the hole and spirals in, but usually so slowly that the holes could not have grown to these huge masses in the entire age of the universe. `We needed a faster mechanism,' says Chris Nixon, also at Leicester, "so we wondered what would happen if gas came in from different directions."

Nixon, King and their colleague Daniel Price in Australia made a computer simulation of two gas discs orbiting a black hole at different angles. After a short time the discs spread and collide, and large amounts of gas fall into the hole. According to their calculations black holes can grow 1,000 times faster when this happens.

"If two guys ride motorbikes on a Wall of Death and they collide, they lose the centrifugal force holding them to the walls and fall," says King. The same thing happens to the gas in these discs, and it falls in towards the hole.

This may explain how these black holes got so big so fast. "We don't know exactly how gas flows inside galaxies in the early universe," said King, "but I think it is very promising that if the flows are chaotic it is very easy for the black hole to feed."

The two biggest black holes ever discovered are each about ten billion times bigger than the Sun.

Oil near $106 amid mixed global growth signs

SINGAPORE (AP) -- Oil prices rose to near $106 a barrel Friday in Asia, after a big tumble the day before, amid mixed signs about the strength of the global economy and crude demand.

Benchmark oil for May delivery was up 43 cents to $105.77 at late afternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell $1.92 to settle at $105.35 per barrel in New York on Thursday.

Brent crude for May delivery was up 38 cents at $123.52 per barrel in London.

Disappointing industrial production figures out of China, Germany and France on Thursday suggested economic growth in Asia and Europe may slow more than previously expected. However, the U.S. reported the number of people seeking unemployment benefits fell to a four-year low last week, reinforcing recent data that suggests the world's biggest economy is improving.

Crude has hovered between $105 and $110 for the last month, up from $75 in October, amid worries that a military strike by Israel or the U.S. on Iran's nuclear facilities could disrupt global supplies.

Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil producer, sought to quell investor concerns earlier this week by saying that it's prepared to quickly boost crude output by 25 percent if necessary.

Some analysts expect growing crude demand in emerging countries and limited supplies will keep oil prices from falling despite slowing global economic growth.

"With the market characterized by extremely low inventories and stretched spare capacity, oil prices are to likely to remain high," Barclays Capital said in a report. "Given strong emerging market demand and weak non-OPEC supply, the oil price is now likely to be sustained at considerably above $100 per barrel in the long term."

In other energy trading, heating oil was up 1.5 cents at $3.21 per gallon and gasoline futures added 1.6 cents at $3.34 per gallon. Natural gas gained 1.4 cents at $2.28 per 1,000 cubic feet.

When James Cameron Hits Bottom, We Will Hear Him

You are the first, the first person to reach the moon, climb Everest, cross the ocean, reach the Pole, the first person ever. You have just done a dangerous, remarkable deed, and now that you've done it, what do you do?

You say something.

"One small step..." Something to mark the moment. Any hour now, the movie director Jim Cameron will attempt, by himself, to sink to the deepest spot on our planet, an ocean trench 6.78 miles below sea level, near the coast of the Philippines. Only one living person has been there before him. And when that guy arrived where no human had ever been, what he said was...

Well, nothing.

"I'm afraid we didn't have any profound words that could be written down somewhere," U.S. Navy Lieutenant Don Walsh told the BBC. "It was a quiet moment. And then when we realized that we weren't going to see anything, we called topside, and told them that we were coming up and started our way back to the surface."

Exploring The Quiet Way

Before webcams, satellites, 24-hour cable, before the world was relentlessly wired, explorers made their discoveries alone. No one expected a speech. Or a quote. And if there wasn't much to say, they didn't say much. When Jim Cameron, standing upright in his vertical capsule, called the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER, (spelled with capital letters), hits sea bottom ? and I hope he does ? he will, no doubt, have lots to say, and whatever he says, we will hear it. That's how it goes these days.

But back 52 years ago, in 1960, it was different.

Lt. Walsh Takes The Plunge

Lieutenant Walsh was a submarine officer in 1958. The Navy asked him to join what they called The Bathyscaphe Program. "I knew it was deep diving," he told the BBC, "going deeper than I had ever gone. And then it was sort of revealed to me that the long range goal...[was] to dive to the deepest place in the world's ocean. Well, the first, uh, I think the first reaction was, "What? What do you mean? Why didn't you tell me this before I volunteered?"

Was he nervous? A little. Mostly, he was cramped. Walsh made the dive in a narrow, Swiss designed whale-shaped vehicle with a glass orb at the bottom. He had a companion, Swiss engineer/explorer, Jacques Picard.

"The inside was pretty, pretty small," Walsh said. "Jacques Picard, I think, was six-foot-two or something like that, tall guy. I'm not so tall, but we kind of curled up inside this thing. Some people characterized it as about the size, this working space for two people, as a large household refrigerator, and temperature not far off."

When their submersible, The Trieste, hit 30,000 feet, they heard a "great bang." Walsh went to a window and saw that the glass had cracked. The water pressure was intense, something like 8 tons to the square inch, but the crack was minor, not a danger, so they kept going.

Very near the bottom ? and this is still a mystery ? Walsh and Picard say they saw a fish. "We spotted a flatfish, like a small halibut, or sole, about a foot long, I guess." Tim Shank, a deep sea biologist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, told Nature Magazine, it's hard to imagine a flatfish living at such depths. Worms, sea cucumbers, the occasional crustacean, certainly, but a fish?

Problem was, it was very dark down there. The Trieste had a searchlight, but when Walsh and Picard reached the deepest spot on the planet, they kicked up sediment. "We had just had this cloud of white stuff come up," Walsh said. So they sat there for 20 minutes, staring at a fog of ocean dust. "It was like looking at a bowl of milk."

They couldn't take photographs because there was nothing to see. Since there was nothing to see, they had nothing to say. This extraordinary achievement, the first trip by man to the bottom of the earth, passed in quiet, reverential silence.

Evidently the?Pure Michigan?marketing campaign is attracting much needed visitors to our beloved state. We feel confident that our state?s beauty will exceed our guests? expectations.

How about your businesses? customer service? Will it deliver a ?WOW? experience that matches our sublime beaches? My impression is many area businesses pin their customer strategy on hope, not reality. A recent customer service experience prompted this conclusion.

A Petoskey soccer tournament means disorganized dads like me rushing out to buy lots of sandwiches. Here?s myPure Michigan?customer service experience:

Upon entering the business, the counter order-taker asks ?What can I get you?? No gracious welcome, no warm smile, little eye contact, and body language suggesting I?m a nuisance. I make a joke about ?When Harry Meets Sally? (way beyond her generation), and if they get the first sandwich correct it?ll potentially save me some marriage therapy dollars. This attempt at light humor rewards me with a ?no smile frown? combined with the blockbuster non-verbal of ?rolling eyes and looking away!? Wow. I know my marriage jokes are old, but really?

I get back to the serious business of reading from my carefully Mom-scripted sandwich list, which I dutifully cross off as I read out the instructions, twice each.

Rookie error: dad stuffs sandwiches into bag without counting them! I arrive back at NCMC gymnasium only to have to drive back into Petoskey to correct the order. Fun, right?

Back at the sandwich shop, I say, ?You missed making one of my sandwiches.? The original order-taker asks, ?Which one?? I say, ?The roast beef.?

She says (get this), ?You never ordered that.?

Wow, really? I even had my crossed off list in hand!

At this point I find the P.I.C. (person in charge) with whom I share my entire customer experience and impressions. I asked him, ?If you were a visiting tourist, please give me one reason why I would ever consider coming back here or recommending you??

He honestly replied, ?I couldn?t.?

Grieving Copts bid farewell to Pope Shenuda

Thousands of grieving Coptic Christians packed St Mark's Cathedral in Cairo on Sunday to bid farewell to Pope Shenuda III, his body on a wooden throne, as the church considered a new head for the anxious community.

Shenuda died on Saturday aged 88 after a long illness, setting in motion the process to elect a new patriarch for the Middle East's largest Christian community.

He led the Copts, estimated at 10 percent of Egypt's population of more than 80 million, for a whole generation, during which the country was hit by a wave of Islamist militancy from which he sought to protect his flock.

Tens of thousands of mourners converged on the cathedral in a queue that stretched for more than a kilometre (nearly a mile), as military vehicles lined the road outside.

Church sources reported three people crushed to death as crowds pressed to see the body of the late religious leader, but no further information was available.

State television urged mourners to avoid crowding, saying they had until Tuesday to pay their respects.

Shenuda's body, dressed in formal robes with a golden crown on his head and a gold-knobbed staff cradled on his shoulder, was placed upright on the tall ornate papal throne where it will remain sitting in state until the funeral on Tuesday.

Thousands of worshippers in black hoping for a final blessing from their spiritual leader took pictures of Shenuda on their phones, amid tears and wailing.

"It's a great loss for Egypt," Tourism Minister Munir Fakhry Abdelnur, a Copt and a close friend of Shenuda, told AFP.

"He was wise and was widely listened to. He will be missed at a time when we need wisdom and a patriotic spirit."

Copts nationwide mourned Shenuda, and one distraught woman in the Suez Canal city of Ismailia was critical in hospital after trying to commit suicide, the official MENA news agency reported.

It also said the head of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, visited the cathedral to pay his last respects.

Based on wishes stated in his will, Shenuda will be buried at St Bishoy monastery of Wadi Natrun in the Nile Delta, where he spent time in exile after a dispute with the late president Anwar Sadat, state media reported.

Bishop Pachomious of the Nile Delta province of Beheira has assumed papal duties for two months until a council of senior clergy meets to choose a new pope, state television said.

The successor would be chosen according to procedures laid out in 1957 church bylaws.

Coptic bishops from around the world have already started to fly in for meetings on the funeral arrangements and succession.

"Egypt Weeps," read the headline of the state-owned daily Al-Akhbar as others bade "Farewell, Pope Shenuda."

"Egypt has lost one of its greatest men," said the Al-Azhar institution in Cairo, Sunni Islam's most prestigious, in a statement. "He is a great loss, a dear friend."

Cairo-based Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi described Shenuda in a statement as "an Egyptian and national personage who took upon himself responsibilities for Egyptians and all Arabs."

Shenuda had suffered health problems for years, frequently travelling to the United States for medical care.

Condolences flooded in from around the world, with US President Barack Obama hailing Shenuda as an advocate for tolerance and religious dialogue.

Pope Benedict XVI had offered prayers for Shenuda, the Vatican said.

"I can say how much the entire Catholic Church shares the suffering of the Orthodox Copts," Benedict said in a statement released by the Vatican.

Organisation of Islamic Cooperation chief Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu called Shenuda's death "a great loss not only to the Coptic Christian community, but for the world at large."

Muslim leaders in Egypt were quick to express their condolences.

Shenuda's death is "a grave calamity that has afflicted all Egypt and its noble people, Muslims and Christians," the country's mufti, Ali Gomaa, said in a statement.

MENA said a leader of Muslim Brotherhood, Mohammed Badie, would lead a Brotherhood delegation to extend its condolences.

Israel's foreign ministry also sent its "sincere condolences," hailing Shenuda as "an important spiritual leader" who contributed to "fraternity and coexistence in Egypt."

EU chief diplomat Catherine Ashton called him "a respected and visionary leader" and called for all the main political and religious leaders in Egypt to follow his commitment "to national unity, reconciliation and freedom of belief."

Shenuda leaves behind a nervous community, a target of frequent sectarian attacks in recent years, with complaints of routine harassment and systematic discrimination and marginalisation.

Egypt's Christians are particularly concerned over the rise and increased assertiveness of Islamists, following the uprising that toppled president Hosni Mubarak.

Shenuda was placed under house arrest by the assassinated Sadat for his outspoken criticism of the late leader's courting of Islamists.

But he supported Sadat's successor, Mubarak, who was overthrown by a popular revolt more than a year ago which led to an Islamist-dominated parliament -- the first in Egypt's history.
